Megan Gillis does a lot of things: Music, events, opera, and even the occasional dinner.

Megan is a highly skilled performer, theater maker, administrator, and event producer. She loves finding a way to incorporate her eye for detail and excellence across many platforms and hobbies wether that is producing a fully staged opera or hosting a community dinner.

One through-line in Megan’s interest is bringing people together. Megan values community building and engagement and feels most at home by bringing new experiences to groups of people.

Background

Born and raised in central Georgia by a hoard of college professors, Megan learned the art of community building from an early age. As her parents commanded the classroom, Megan commanded the stage and probably a few of her fellow actors. She was active in band, theater, and choir all throughout her childhood and came to love the collaborative and communal beast that was music making. She further honed that passion with degrees in Vocal Performance from The University of Georgia (BM ‘13) and The Manhattan School of Music (MM ‘15). However, it was post-graduation where she fully came into herself.

As a young artist in NYC armed with ambition, two degrees in opera, and about $12, Megan has held almost every job imaginable; Waitress, nanny, housekeeper, retail worker, administrative assistant, receptionist, event coordinator, house manager, brand ambassador - you name it Megan has probably done it. What came out of her “varied work experience” was an interest in collaboration and a desire to bring people together. After almost a decade in NYC, Megan has carved out a niche for herself as a dynamic artist, producer, and event curator and doesn’t show signs of stopping anytime soon.

Outside of a busy schedule, Megan enjoys the eternal quest for the perfect Manhattan in Brooklyn, red lipstick, gold hoop earrings, and her cat, Charles Wallace.
